The Guernsey County Chapter of Retired Teachers was organized on September 7, 1963. In 1980, Wilma Wiggington led a project to compose a book of one-room schoolhouses in Guernsey County. That book was published in 1987. In that same year a project began to preserve a one-room schoolhouse. The school had to be dismantled and rebuilt on the Guernsey County Fairgrounds. Alfred M. Glass, local member and ORTA President in 1992 was the project chairperson.
