Guidelines
for Communicating with Legislators
Be sensitive to the fact that the legislator's time in Columbus is very tightly scheduled: so you
may wish to spend time with him/her back home.
Learn as much about your legislators as possible.
When presenting your case, give good, logical reasons for your position.
LISTEN to what the legislator or candidate has to say and note any new arguments for or against your
position.
Plan not to keep your legislator or candidate too long.
Have enough supportive material available but not enough to confuse.
Try to leave the legislator or candidate with a good impression, even if there is a disagreement. |
