Shelby County Quilt Block Story The Shelby County Chapter of the Ohio Retired Teachers Association
was formed on September 24, 1970; the function being to discover, study, and transmit information and suggestions concerning
pertinent current interests and concerns of retired teachers at the community level.
Projects in which the chapter
has been involved include:
Serving meals at a camp
for special needs children
Donating money to -
Dental clinic
Nearby school for needy children
State hospital
Local literary projects
Local food banks
Presentation of a yearly scholarship
to a student enrolled in a teacher education program.
Shelby County Chapter members are very active and participate
in nearly 100 different volunteer organizations throughout the county. Members contribute thousands of hours for the welfare
of the community, thereby fulfilling the chapter’s motto: “To Serve, Not Be Served.”
