The Scioto County Chapter of Retired Teachers was founded in July of 1959 by a grou p of sixteen charter members. The small group of Scioto County RTA members grew to 400 in the late 1980s.

Four meeting are held each year at Hillview Retirement Center in Portsmouth.

The Scioto members are highly regarded in the community for their civic participation and volunteerism. Scioto RTA has established a scholarship for a student entering the field of education.

The real success story of Scioto County Chapter RTA is in the willingness of its members to serve and to help it grow.

The Scioto County Chapter RTA meets the fourth Tuesday of March, June, September and December. There is a 30-minute social hour and group singing before the program and business meeting.

Scioto County Chapter RTA members are proud of their teaching profession and enjoy the participation they have with ORTA.
