Ross County Quilt Block Story The retired teachers of Ross County first met to organize an association
in September of 1959. A constitution for the Ross County Chapter RTA was approved in December of that year. Ross Co. RTA now
has four meeting per year.
Chillicothe, the county seat of Ross County, was the first capital of Ohio. Chillicothe
was a major canal port for the Ohio-Erie Canal and offered Ross County farmers adequate shipping of their crops to market.
Today, the outdoor drama, “Tecumseh” is staged in the summer at the Sugarloaf Mountain Amphitheatre.
The
Ross County RTA is active in the community. The members volunteer to help with projects in the community, and keep up-to-date
with legislative matters in Ohio.
