The Pickaway Co. and adjacent area Retired Teachers group held its first meeting on December 9, 1967 at the Pickaway Arms with 43 very interested persons in attendance.

At the second meeting on March 16, 1968, fifty-seven members were listed on the Charter Membership Enrollment List.

Adopted name: Pickaway County and Adjacent Area Retired Teachers Association
Group organizers: Leslie Dearth, Mildred and J. Austin Dowden.

The Pickaway Co. RTA celebrated their 40th year with 157 members.
